Kensington
Stinger
The Gravis Stinger was a compact laptop gamepad designed to bring console-style controls to Windows PC gamers at a time when laptops lacked standard game ports. Connecting via a 9-pin RS-232 serial port and sized to fit in a pocket, it packed ten buttons and an analog thumbstick using Hall Effect sensors, eliminating the wear and drift that plagued the resistive mechanisms common in controllers of the era. Gravis was subsequently acquired by Kensington, bringing the Stinger and the rest of the product line under the Kensington brand.
